Artists Who Have Announced Their “Retirement” in 2025

From Joaquín Sabina to Ferxxo, some have caught us by surprise.

Twelve months is a long time: singles, albums, concerts, world tours… there seem to be no limits when it comes to musical careers, but this excess of perseverance and dedication can also be dangerous. 2025 has made this clear, as many artists have been forced to “take a break”.

Whether permanently or to recharge their batteries physically and emotionally, this past year has left us with bittersweet farewells and the occasional scare; words like “temporary” or “indefinite” are dangerous when it comes to the fast-paced nature of the industry. In case you hadn’t heard, here are the most talked-about artists who, in one way or another, have said goodbye or will be saying goodbye soon.

Joaquín Sabina

We found out at the end of March when, after 50 years on stage, the Ubetense artist announced to Esquire magazine that he was retiring from major tours; but wait, here’s the most important detail: although he won’t be travelling from city to city, the 19-day, 500-night tour still has plenty of life left in it. The reality of this announcement became clear on 30th November, when the artist bid farewell to his Hola y Adiós tour and five decades of live performances at the Movistar Arena. But don’t panic, because Sabina is only putting down the microphone when it comes to live performances.

Rozalén

The Albacete native took stock a few weeks ago and got ahead of the rest. It has been 15 years of unquestionable dedication for an artist who, after six albums and some 700 concerts in more than 20 different countries, has announced a temporary break to — in the artist’s words — travel without working, devour books and compose at the pace dictated by her emotions. However, the singer of El Abrazo did not want to say goodbye to 2025 without giving her fans two very special surprises.

The first was the release of Efímera, a previously unreleased song. The second? Three concerts — on 28, 29 and 30 December — at the Sala Galileo, where Rozalén will give her last hug to the audience before taking her ‘warrior’s break’.

Feid

We can’t speak for Feid, but it seems that Ferxxo is asking for a break; and XTHE ENDX, the name of the documentary that the Colombian artist has just released, confirms this. The news has sparked rumours about the new phase that the Verano Rosa artist will face after closing the one that catapulted him to success, but it hasn’t exactly come as a surprise to his most devoted fans. A little over two months ago, the Medellín native shared a post on his Instagram account in which he recapped everything he had experienced in 2025 and asked his fans not to miss ‘FERXXO on stage too much’.

Now, after releasing the singles Monstruo and Poder in between these two announcements, everyone is asking the same question: what is Ferxxocalipsis preparing for his return?
