‘Flowers for Antonio’ also became a song for Alba Flores: “At last I can respond to my father’s love”.

Antonio Flores’ daughter has joined forces with Silvia Pérez Cruz (and her aunts Lolita and Rosario) to shape the central theme of her newly released documentary.

Flores para Antonio premiered in cinemas on 28 November. For almost a month now, we have been able to witness the catharsis that Alba Flores has experienced since September 2024, when she began filming a documentary that seeks to find the answers that a little girl began to ask herself (and which the adult could not answer) when she lost her father at the age of just 8.

In this vital process, the protagonist of the project has not only captured this search in images, but it has also materialised in an original song. A song that was born more than 30 years ago and which, in 2025, has been completed with the help of Silvia Pérez Cruz as the central theme of the film.

Alba is not the only one who sings this song; her aunts Rosario and Lolita also provide backing vocals for a composition that reflects on the seed (legacy) that Antonio planted in the entire Flores clan. ‘From one flower another is born, it does not die, it remains there, time passes, then it sprouts, life comes back again.’

Lyrics to Flores para Antonio

(No, no, no)

Ha perdido su raíz.

Busca la puerta donde estaba su jardín

De una flor nace la otra

no se muere sigue ahí

Pasa el tiempo luego brota

la vida vuelve a salir

Pero yo le digo que no, no, no

Que no le haga eso

Pero yo le digo que no, no, no, no

Pero yo le digo que no, no, no, no

Que no le haga eso

Yo le digo que no, no, no, no.

Buscando

(Búscalo, búscalo)
